The primary goal of the program of instruction at Annunciation School is to provide those learning experiences that most effectively inculcate worthwhile attitudes and impart knowledge and skills necessary for the spiritual, intellectual, emotional and the physical well being of the student.

Annunciation School follows the curriculum of New York State and the Essential Learnings of the New York Archdiocese in the following areas: Reading, Mathematics, English, Writing, Social Studies, Science, Spelling, Physical Education, Mathematics 9, and Vocabulary 7 and 8. Phonics instructions in the lower grades supplements and reinforces the standard reading curriculum. Guidelines are given by the Archdiocese for the Religion Curriculum.

In addition, the law requires that instruction be given in: · Aids and Drug Awareness Education which is especially stressed in the DARE Program in grade 5 and the ADAPP Program in grades 4, 6, 7, and 8 · Citizenship, Patriotism, Constitution of the United States, Health Education, Fire Prevention, Career and Home Skills

Annunciation School provides additional instruction in the areas of:

· Computer · Art · Music · Spanish · Library Skills


HOMEWORK POLICY:

Homework is an essential part of the instructional program and reinforces learning. It serves as a means for clarifying and reviewing material learned in class, for providing motivation and opportunity for individual growth, and for creating experiences of in-depth study and supplementary reading.

It is the policy of Annunciation School to give homework each night - Monday through Thursday. Students are required to complete all homework.
