This Week in Review:

Dear Families,

We have just concluded the first full school week in 2019 and it has been a busy one for both students and staff at AES. MAP testing is underway in many classes.  The test data  derived from this test allows teachers to better drive instruction and pinpoint and remediate areas of difficulty for their students.  Marie O’Shea, our Instructional Support specialist, visited us today and offered support and guidance to our teachers with regard to next steps in planning effective lessons after this testing is complete.

Our Middle School students are preparing for their midterm exams.  Their teachers  have provided review packets to them so they have ample time to prepare for these tests.

The Value of the Month for January  is Circumspection.  Children will be reflecting on the following question during religion class: In your experience, does thinking before acting help you to be happy?  This question can serve as a springboard at home to discuss the importance of  thinking carefully rather than just acting impulsively.

I am happy to say that we are in the final phase of planning for some very special days during Catholic Schools Week which begins on January 27th.  You will be notified next week with a summary of the week’s highlights.  I am certain you and your children will look forward to this week which is sure to become quite memorable for all!
