June 3, 2020   Dear Families:                               It is hard to believe we have reached the month of June.  We pray for a successful last month of school.  We know this is far from the June we are used to experiencing, but it is our hope that our students will continue to learn and grow in this last month of our instructional year.  Amidst these challenging times in our world, we know God will continue to be our guide.             In the coming weeks we will celebrate our graduating classes: PK3, PK4, Kindergarten and Grade 8!  Please stay tuned to our Facebook page as we will be recognizing our graduating classes!  We know the future ahead is bright for all of them!  We are SO proud of their accomplishments!  We hope the celebrations planned for next week will help them to embrace all of the hard work they have put in this year!  We look forward to the opportunity to recognize these groups.

Dear Families:

It is hard to believe we have reached the month of June.

At this time, I would like to share with you some bittersweet news regarding our Annunciation faculty.  Mrs. Adrienne Brazier and Mrs. Mary Ellen Elliott have both made the decision to retire at the end of this school year.  These two educators have been pillars of Catholic education.  They have made an impact on the lives of thousands of students that have walked through the doors of Annunciation School.  In their time with us, they have nurtured and loved the children as their own.  Aside from filling students with conceptual knowledge, they have instilled Catholic identity and strong moral values within the students.  Their contribution to Annunciation School cannot be calculated.  We will sorely miss their presence on our staff – though they have already promised, they will remain connected to Annunciation School.  We would like to take the opportunity to congratulate Mrs. Brazier and Mrs. Elliott and thank them for their service to our community.  We are forever grateful and forever changed for the better because of the role they have played in our lives.

As we are nearing the end of the school year, we know there are concerns about the uncertainty that lies ahead.  We know you have experienced frustration and challenges with distance learning yet also great success in navigating this chapter with us.  Our educators have worked to pinpoint the needs of their student populations and continue to tailor instruction to meet the needs of their classes.  We are grateful for the feedback we have received and have taken many suggestions into consideration and/or action to move instruction forward and enhance our product.  As I am sure you know and understand, we are still awaiting guidance in regard to what our parameters will look like for instruction come the fall.  Though we wait for updates from the government and ADNY, I can assure you, we have been working behind the scenes to plan for all options of instruction.  We will continue to work both now and throughout the summer on contingency plans for the upcoming school year.  Our students and families’ needs remain at the forefront of our planning.  We are committed to the 2020-2021 school year being one of our best years yet!  Know that we will disseminate information as quickly as it becomes available to us. We are extremely grateful for your support throughout this entire time.  None of this would be possible without your partnership and commitment to Annunciation School

As you know we still have a week left to participate in our Walk-A-Thon.  I’d like to encourage those of you who are able to participate and contribute to our Walk-A-Thon, to please consider doing so.  We missed this huge community event this year which binds us so closely and a day that we embrace with great pride.  The funding from our Walk-A-Thon also plays a crucial role in our ability to enhance programming for the upcoming school years.  This year especially, we will be utilizing fundraising to enhance instructional programming, to provide professional development and training for our faculty and to support modifications that may be needed within our own building.  Though we have not asked for sponsors this year, please consider sharing this information with family, friends, and alumni of AES.  Together, we will make a difference in the lives of our students currently enrolled in Annunciation School and establish enhancements for our future students!  We truly appreciate everything you all do to make Annunciation School everything it is!  We count our blessings each and every day to be a part of this school community.
