Welcome back! We hope you had a restful Easter recess! It is hard to believe it is May! On Sunday, Bishop Massa along with Fr. Grippo, Fr. Kareem, and Fr. Sal anointed the Annunciation school and Our Lady of Fatima religious education students with holy chrism. They excitedly took the next step in their faith in receiving the sacrament of Confirmation!

Dear Families,

Happy last Friday of our 2018-2019 school year! Our 8th grade graduation on Saturday was a wonderful celebration of the students’ accomplishments. Congratulations to our now alumni and their families.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank our 8th grade students: Natalia Potenza, Michael Mascia, Alyssa Castelli, Joseph Larson, Thomas Fitzmaurice, Natalie Varker, Rebecca McFarland and Grace Kelly for extending their citizenship and volunteering at AES this week! Their sense of community and love for Annunciation (even after graduating) is so valuable to us! We look forward to seeing them volunteer more! Teamwork makes the dream work!

“Reading is the key to success”….. Our summer reading lists are being published on Google classrooms today. We will also make them available in the “Archives” section of our website shortly. As the letter states, we are implementing a book challenge for the summer. I encourage the students to read as much as they can over the summer! Reading will provide them with the essential tools to understanding any/all concepts! We hope to spark interest in the art of reading and we plan to celebrate reading in the fall! Don’t forget to join me in Schultz Field on the dates/times posted for some reading time together! We also want to extend a big thank you to HSA for funding our Mathematics summer workbooks! The children will have plenty of opportunities this summer to expand/enhance their skills and will be ready to take on their next grade level instructional material with ease in the fall!

Please be sure to stop by the Barnes & Noble Book Fair (Yonkers) tomorrow from 10AM-4PM to purchase your summer reading books and enjoy our Shrek, Jr. students perform, along with Mr. Bilancia, as you make your selections. Thank you to Christina Canale for spearheading this event!

Our annual Family Fun Night was a great success! Our PreK4 – 4th graders along with their families enjoyed a spectacular evening with food, music, activities and more.  Special thanks to all those who attended and congratulations to our raffle and auction winners! We are so grateful for all of the volunteers who gave their time and donations to make this a terrific fundraiser and fun event for our school. Thank you to Diane Matuzak for all of her hard work for making this event an extraordinary experience!

We will continue to keep Annie McMahon in our special intentions and prayers! The students and faculty wish Annie much health and happiness. Our Annunciation family is here to support!

Wishing all of our dad’s, grandpas, godfathers and uncles a very Happy Father’s Day on Sunday! We hope you enjoy your day–you certainly deserve to be celebrated!
