Dear Families,

We have spent our week fully immersed in studies and particularly focused on scientific concepts. Our 5th-7th grade students did an exceptional job creating their science fair projects and conducting experiments for our students and families to see. Their presentations were articulate, creative, and demonstrated a thorough understanding of the concepts they studied. Congratulations on a job well done and a special thank you to Mrs. Dentini and Mr. Sgobbo for all the hard work that went behind this.

Our PreK students welcomed the Vernal Equinox on Wednesday with a “kite flying” celebration.  They too worked hard to create models of kites and experimented with the wind while learning about the seasons.

In a few short weeks, grades 3-8 will participate in taking the NYS assessments in ELA(April) and Math(May). The children have been working diligently all year to prepare for these exams and we are confident they are equipped with the tools to project proficiency.  Our teachers have  facilitated lessons aligned to the state standards and have been working to provide our students with a wealth of knowledge. In the future, these results will be used to inform instruction.

We would like to extend our helping hands to the recent victims of the Yonkers fire by hosting a “gym uniform” day on Thursday, April 4, 2019. Students who contribute $2 can wear their gym uniform.  All proceeds will be donated to the victims of the fires.

We will celebrate the Feast of the Annunciation on Monday, March 25, 2019 gathering as a school at Annunciation Church for the Rosary and Benediction at 10AM. All students should wear full uniform.

Ladies’ Guild Palm Sunday Bake Sale:

Please mark your calendars and start your mixers!  The Annunciation Ladies’ Guild is hosting its annual Palm Sunday Bake Sale in the Annunciation School gym following the 5pm Mass on Saturday, April 13th and continuing throughout the morning of Sunday, April 14th.  We also will be selling limited items at Fatima after the 9 am and 11 am masses. We are in need of baked goods such as cakes, pies, cookies and cupcakes!  Our best sellers are the home cooked meals such as stromboli, chili, chicken pot pie and quiche!  We would like to offer gluten-free, nut-free and low-fat baked goods again this year.  The class with the most donated baked goods wins a pizza party!  Please be on the lookout for a volunteer form being sent out next week. Thanks for your support!
