Welcome back! We hope you had a restful Easter recess! It is hard to believe it is May! On Sunday, Bishop Massa along with Fr. Grippo, Fr. Kareem, and Fr. Sal anointed the Annunciation school and Our Lady of Fatima religious education students with holy chrism. They excitedly took the next step in their faith in receiving the sacrament of Confirmation!

Dear Families:

Happy October!  Mrs. Perich and I have had an incredible opportunity this week to sit in on classroom instruction across grade levels!  Our children really are in the hands of the best educators!  We were so happy to see how many interactive and engaging lessons that are happening!  There is so much learning going on here at AES!

As we begin a new month, we continue to work with our values infusion program created by the ADNY.  The Value of the Month for October is Choose Life.  This week we celebrate two important feast days: The Feast Day of the Guardian Angels (October 2nd) and The Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi (October 4th).  We have encouraged our students to be instruments of peace here at Annunciation School!  Please join us for our 10AM first Friday mass on October 4, 2019, all are welcome!  We are collecting men’s deodorant for the Midnight Run!

Get in the #hashtag game!  I have attached a flyer to the Wednesday Connection indicating we are looking for suggestions for our AES #hashtag!  See flyer for details!  We look forward to adding a new element to our AES school pride!

After school clubs are taking flight this week!  In walking around and visiting, I learned some AES cheers and how-to salsa!  It’s not too late to register!  See attached flyer regarding clubs!  We are grateful for our 7th grade students helping out in the club programming!  We welcome the Math Olympiad as a new club addition for our 7th and 8th grade students!  We wish the Olympiads much success on their mathematical challenges ahead!

Please join us for Fall Festival on Friday, October 4, 2019.  This is always a wonderful opportunity for us to gather as a school community!  Thank you to all those who participate in making this evening such a great event!

Update:

  • Wearable devices that allow text messaging, picture taking and internet capabilities are not permitted to be worn in school.  Please have the students keep these devices at home.  Also, all cell phones must be turned OFF not on silent when handed in to the classroom teachers.  Please reinforce this important rule at home!  I thank you for your support!

“Lord, make me an instrument of peace, where there is hatred, let me sow love.” Prayer of St. Francis
