This Week in Review:

Dear Families,

There was a lot happening at AES as usual this week!

Our 3rd grade students, dressed as saints, attended a Prayer service on Tuesday, officiated by Fr. Grippo and Fr. Kareem.  This event is another example of how the children’s catholic identity is strengthened in our school.  The instruction about various saints began in the classroom and then extended and connected in our church with family and friends joining in the celebration.

Our 8th graders had an exciting day on Wednesday when they were treated to a breakfast hosted by parents to usher in Ring Day.  The celebratory morning continued with a church service where the students received their rings that were blessed by Fr. Grippo.  Smiles were plentiful when the students received their rings and when they posed for their group picture wearing their new Annunciation sweatshirts.

Later that day, our 7th graders were blessed to have their religion class taught by Fr. Kareem.  Our school/church connection has truly blossomed this year at AES!

I was scheduled to attend a Principal meeting on Thursday but much to my dismay I could not attend because I was summoned for Jury Duty.  This civic responsibility will extend into today and hopefully no further.  I had an opportunity to listen to the lawyer question prospective jurors.  One question that was posed was, “Do you have children?”  Today, when I am asked that question my reply will be,  “I have more than 400 children!  I am a Principal of a Catholic School, my children need me to be present, and I believe in forgiveness for all!”

I hope and pray that with this response I will see you all on Tuesday morning!

Enjoy this long weekend and heed the words that John F. Kennedy spoke about Veteran’s Day …. “As we express our gratitude we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”
