June 12, 2024           Dear Annunciation Families:           A special week is upon us.  This week we celebrate in so many ways our students who are graduating and moving up.  Yesterday and this morning, we celebrated our Prek3, Prek4 and Kindergarten students.  It was such a joy to watch our students grow this year and their ceremonies were a testament to how hard they have worked.  We will miss their smiling faces over the summer but we cannot wait to see what the future holds!           Our 8th grade students will celebrate their graduation Mass tomorrow and ceremony on Saturday.  This group has gone above and beyond serving our school community and they have earned countless awards and scholarships that we cannot wait to share in the near future.  They have been a true gift to us all.  We will miss our class of 2024 dearly.  They have made an everlasting impact on our lives.  Congratulations to our graduates.  Mock Trial Results:             Our four Annunciation teams that participated this year in both the 7th grade and 8th grade Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition did an amazing job and we are so proud of them.  Our 7th grade Defense team, 7th Grade Prosecution team, and our 8th Grade Defense team made it all the way to the Semi-Final round, and each gave captivating performances that would make you all proud.  Our 8th grade Prosecution team made it all the way to the Final Round and gave a competitive and skillful performance, under the guidance of AES alumni parent John Sullivan.  Although our teams did not take home the championship cup, in our eyes they accomplished their goals: public speaking, engaging in active listening and mastering the art of debate.  A special “shout out” to our courageous group of 6th graders who stepped up to fill-out the 8th grade team, in order for the team to continue to participate in the competition.  This was a high school level exercise and we are so proud of each and every one of our students for participating. Well done!   AES HSA Auction:           Our AES Auction was a HUGE success.  We raised $20,327.86. We have been fulfilling auction prizes and having so much fun doing so.  Thank you for your generosity and for making this a major fundraising event.  Rescheduled SkyDome - June 17, 2024:           On Monday, we will have the Mobile Ed productions, Sky Dome, come to Annunciation (rescheduled from Catholic Schools’ Week).  Field Day–Tuesday, June 18, 2024:           Reminder that field day is rescheduled to Tuesday, June 18, 2024. We will be providing pizza for lunch.  Please send your children in with water and be sure to apply sunscreen.           We just want to take the opportunity prior to the end of the school year to thank our class parents and HSA for all that went in behind the scenes to make events and fundraisers such incredible experiences.  From our birthday bash to bigger events, our students had FUN.  Summer Work:           Summer assignments will be sent home with your children prior to the last day of school.  Please ensure that the children complete all necessary work. Morning Care & Extended Day:           Just a reminder that today is the last day of the extended day.  Morning care will not be available for the remainder of the school year.  HSA NEWS:           Thank you to all the parents and friends who came out to support the students for the Walk-a-thon last Friday.  It was truly a memorable day and an example of how special our school community is, ending with the Clap Out for our wonderful 8th grade!  We are still tallying late donations (you can still submit if needed) and will report out on the final total next week.   End of the Year Collection:           Please consider contributing to the End of the Year Teacher Collection (flyer attached).  Contributing to this fund is a wonderful way to acknowledge your teacher, our staff and our administration for their hard work all year.   Class Parent Volunteers:             Thank you to all of our volunteer class parents who worked tirelessly all year to make our lives easier!  We appreciate all that you have done for our students and for being a guide to our parents.  Thank You!!!  If any parents are interested in volunteering to be a class parent for next school year, please submit your name and preferred grade to: hsa@annunciationcrestwood.com by this Monday June 17th.  As we have done the last two years, we will put all the names that we get into two hats per grade (if we receive enough submissions) (a) rookie class parents; (b) experienced class parents.  We have found that pairing a rookie and experienced class parent together leads to an easier transition for the beginning of the new school year.  If we do not receive volunteers for a particular grade, we will reach out to past volunteers to see if they would be willing to participate again.  Being a class parent is a rewarding experience and we hope you consider volunteering.  And remember, even if you are not selected to be a class parent, we have many opportunities for you to volunteer within our school community.
