Make a Gift of Stock
Gifts of appreciated securities are an excellent way to make a gift to the Foundation. Donors receive a charitable tax deduction for the fair market value of the securities on the day that they are transferred, and they avoid taxes on capital gains. Please consult your tax advisor for advice on the tax benefits of donating appreciated stock. For additional information and for stock transfer instructions, please contact Neil Scanlon, President of The AES Crestwood Foundation, Inc. at aesfoundation@annunciationcrestwood.com.
“Giving a gift of appreciated stock provides me with a tax deduction equal to the total value of the stock gift, and I do not have to pay capital gains tax on the stock, which I would have to do if I sold it outright. It’s a great strategy for my charitable giving plan and for my tax plan!” – Judee Arnstein ’68
Consider Making a Gift from Your Retirement Account
Recently signed legislation, Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act, permanently extends the IRA Charitable Rollover Provision. The provision allows individuals who have reached age 70 1/2 to donate up to $100,000 to charitable organizations directly from their Individual Retirement Account (IRA), without treating the distribution as taxable income.
“Always looking for ways to reduce my taxable income, I came across an article that explained how to give to your favorite charities directly from an IRA account. This direct gift reduces the amount you need to declare on your tax return. This is a “Win, Win” situation, since the charity receives the money and ones taxable income is reduced.” – Lillian Claire Benway Pullano ’51

“Annunciation School was a very special place for me in terms of an education as well as friendships and special memories. It was so special, that my husband and I decided to raise our children inCrestwood and send them to Annunciation School as well. It is for this reason that I have chosen to include Annunciation School in my will. When I am long gone, I hope the school will be providing an excellent Catholic education. If my parting gift helps to make that possible, I will feel that I have “paid it forward.” – Mary Theresa Gill McCombe ’75
