Kindergarten – Grade 5

All curriculum in the varying content areas is aligned to the NYS Next Generation Standards. 


  • ELA Curriculum→
    Phonics and Word Study, Fluency, Grammar, Reading Comprehension, Guided Reading, Conferencing, Writing. 

    • Grades K-5 participate in Fountas and Pinnell Leveled Benchmark assessments multiple times throughout the year to assess students’ fluency and comprehension.
    • Instruction is tailored to meet the needs of diverse learners within the classrooms. 
    • FUNdations is our word-study program utilized in PreK, Kindergarten,  Grades 1 and 2. 
      • FUNdations is grounded in the science of reading. It utilizes a structured approach and multi-sensory techniques to provide effective instruction within the classrooms. 
      • Through hands-on learning opportunities, students are able to establish emergency literacy skills. 
    • Supplemental Reading Program Offerings→ IXL, Razkids
    • Voyages in English Grammar
    • Vocabulary Workshop
    • Students in Grades 4 & 5 actively participate in novel studies.

     

    Mathematics Curriculum→ Envision Math

    • Integrates problem-based and visual learning to assist students in gaining a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. 
    • Students have opportunities to connect real world scenarios to mathematical concepts.
    • Collaborative exercises are included to develop critical thinking skills.
    • Students are assessed regularly both informally and formally.
      • Assessment data is utilized to drive and tailor instruction.
    • The series supports student choice and opportunities for students to learn in school and at home.
    • Via the Savvas Realize Learning Management system—materials are available to edit to meet the needs of each student. 


    ** We are consistently evaluating our curriculum and making informed decisions regarding curriculum updates. We are currently in  the process of re-evaluating our reading series for the 24-25 school year. We will update our school community once decisions have been made.

     

    Science & Social Studies→ 

    • Teachers utilize Discovery Education Techbooks for both science and social students along with a plethora of supplemental resources. 
    • STEM based activities are implemented in science classes.

     

    Christ Our Life, Loyola Press (Coming 2024-2025→ Tier II)

    • The series teaches students about Jesus and how to progress on their faith-filled journey.
    • Supports students’ growth as disciples of Jesus.
    • Students learn the pillars of our faith.
    • Students learn church history and study sacraments, the worldly church, and deeply delve into Old and New testament studies.
    • Students learn to become witnesses of the church.

     

    Technology→

    • Students in grades 3-8 have 1:1 devices to support their learning in the classroom.
    • Students in grades K-2 have access to both iPads and MacBooks for emergent technology learning and use. 
      • Students become proficient in typing, usage of google features, usage of microsoft products.
