August 28, 2024

June 12, 2024           Dear Annunciation Families:           A special week is upon us.  This week we celebrate in so many ways our students who are graduating and moving up.  Yesterday and this morning, we celebrated our Prek3, Prek4 and Kindergarten students.  It was such a joy to watch our students grow this year and their ceremonies were a testament to how hard they have worked.  We will miss their smiling faces over the summer but we cannot wait to see what the future holds!           Our 8th grade students will celebrate their graduation Mass tomorrow and ceremony on Saturday.  This group has gone above and beyond serving our school community and they have earned countless awards and scholarships that we cannot wait to share in the near future.  They have been a true gift to us all.  We will miss our class of 2024 dearly.  They have made an everlasting impact on our lives.  Congratulations to our graduates.  Mock Trial Results:             Our four Annunciation teams that participated this year in both the 7th grade and 8th grade Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition did an amazing job and we are so proud of them.  Our 7th grade Defense team, 7th Grade Prosecution team, and our 8th Grade Defense team made it all the way to the Semi-Final round, and each gave captivating performances that would make you all proud.  Our 8th grade Prosecution team made it all the way to the Final Round and gave a competitive and skillful performance, under the guidance of AES alumni parent John Sullivan.  Although our teams did not take home the championship cup, in our eyes they accomplished their goals: public speaking, engaging in active listening and mastering the art of debate.  A special “shout out” to our courageous group of 6th graders who stepped up to fill-out the 8th grade team, in order for the team to continue to participate in the competition.  This was a high school level exercise and we are so proud of each and every one of our students for participating. Well done!   AES HSA Auction:           Our AES Auction was a HUGE success.  We raised $20,327.86. We have been fulfilling auction prizes and having so much fun doing so.  Thank you for your generosity and for making this a major fundraising event.  Rescheduled SkyDome - June 17, 2024:           On Monday, we will have the Mobile Ed productions, Sky Dome, come to Annunciation (rescheduled from Catholic Schools’ Week).  Field Day–Tuesday, June 18, 2024:           Reminder that field day is rescheduled to Tuesday, June 18, 2024. We will be providing pizza for lunch.  Please send your children in with water and be sure to apply sunscreen.           We just want to take the opportunity prior to the end of the school year to thank our class parents and HSA for all that went in behind the scenes to make events and fundraisers such incredible experiences.  From our birthday bash to bigger events, our students had FUN.  Summer Work:           Summer assignments will be sent home with your children prior to the last day of school.  Please ensure that the children complete all necessary work. Morning Care & Extended Day:           Just a reminder that today is the last day of the extended day.  Morning care will not be available for the remainder of the school year.  HSA NEWS:           Thank you to all the parents and friends who came out to support the students for the Walk-a-thon last Friday.  It was truly a memorable day and an example of how special our school community is, ending with the Clap Out for our wonderful 8th grade!  We are still tallying late donations (you can still submit if needed) and will report out on the final total next week.   End of the Year Collection:           Please consider contributing to the End of the Year Teacher Collection (flyer attached).  Contributing to this fund is a wonderful way to acknowledge your teacher, our staff and our administration for their hard work all year.   Class Parent Volunteers:             Thank you to all of our volunteer class parents who worked tirelessly all year to make our lives easier!  We appreciate all that you have done for our students and for being a guide to our parents.  Thank You!!!  If any parents are interested in volunteering to be a class parent for next school year, please submit your name and preferred grade to: hsa@annunciationcrestwood.com by this Monday June 17th.  As we have done the last two years, we will put all the names that we get into two hats per grade (if we receive enough submissions) (a) rookie class parents; (b) experienced class parents.  We have found that pairing a rookie and experienced class parent together leads to an easier transition for the beginning of the new school year.  If we do not receive volunteers for a particular grade, we will reach out to past volunteers to see if they would be willing to participate again.  Being a class parent is a rewarding experience and we hope you consider volunteering.  And remember, even if you are not selected to be a class parent, we have many opportunities for you to volunteer within our school community.

Dear Annunciation Families:

T-Minus 8 days until we begin school again! We truly cannot wait to welcome your children next week. A few important reminders for the 2024-2025 school year are listed below, please read this weekly carefully for pertinent details regarding our schedule for opening days & the weeks to come.

We pray that you have a wonderful and restful unofficial end to your summer this weekend. God bless all who continue to work to support the growth and prosperity of our country, Happy Labor Day!

2024-2025 Calendar:
The 2024-2025 calendar is LIVE on our website.  As usual, If there are any adjustments that need to be made to the calendar, we will inform you promptly.

Important to note & reminder from our August 5th communication:
The Superintendent of Schools has allotted 2 full weeks for Christmas vacation this year.

With that in mind, we will only be taking the Tuesday and Wednesday of February break this year and will return to school on Thursday, February 20, 2025. We know this is an adjustment to our regular calendar but in planning for the possibility of snow days etc., it is best to build in these days to that week in February. With that said, our last school is now June 18, 2025. As always, snow day give back days will be listed on the calendar for planning purposes.

New Student Ice Cream Social:
We warmly welcome 57 NEW students to our Annunciation family this year! We are so excited for our new students to join us. Our HSA will graciously be hosting our New Student Ice Cream Social on September 4, 2024 at 4:30PM. Thanks to our chairs, Erin Downey and Rosa DiLullo, we will be partnering with Ice Cream Emergency this year for our new student welcome! We hope to see our new families there!

Your child(ren) will not be released to anyone unless we have written permission from the parent/ guardian.

24-25 Arrival/Dismissal Form

  • This Google Form must be completed by ALL FAMILIES no later than September 4, 2024.

For Students with IESPs/504 Plans:
For students that have been enrolled at AES with existing IESPs, please submit the 24-25 updated IESP to the main office. We do not receive these documents from YPS and therefore we need our parents to submit them to us so that we can update records.

If anyone is NEW to school and has a current IESP in place and/or 504 plan, please submit it to us so that it can be reviewed and updated with our Special Education Department as needed.

If your child will be bussing out for services at one of our local schools, please be sure to include the homeroom teacher and administration on these scheduling correspondences.

Last year, we began suggesting that parents supply students that will be bussed for services with an Apple AirTag. The AirTag will be held in the main office and distributed to the child before he/she goes on the bus. It will be returned to Mrs. Brown upon return back to school.

If you are interested in having your child evaluated, please contact Ms. Montanez and schedule an initial meeting.

Each child will be coming home next week with a BLUE folder which has all appendices from the Annunciation School Family Handbook that require signature. All appendices must be signed and returned to your child’s homeroom teacher.
Please complete the folder for EACH child within your household.

Safety Drills:
We will be running safety drills (evacuation & lockdown) drills each month.
Grades 1-8 will practice their evacuation drill on Friday, September 6, 2024. During the first full week of school, we will conduct one evacuation drill and one lockdown drill.
We will inform the community when we will be practicing drills (but will not specify time).
We remind our students and families that it is essential to conduct safety drills to prepare for emergency situations.
