September 18, 2024 Dear Annunciation Families: 2nd Grade Special Person Visit Mass & REMINDER: Just a reminder that our G2 students will be going to 9AM Mass on September 27, 2024 and then returning to Annunciation to perform a skit. Please inform Mrs. Power or Ms. Auricchio if you are able to attend. It can be a parent, grandparent, aunt/uncle or cousin, if a parent is not able to attend due to schedule conflicts. Attendance Emails: Per our 9/11/24 communication, we are now utilizing the feature within our student information system to inform families via email when students are late/ absent. Our automatic response to students being late or absent began on September 16, 2024. If your child was absent or late and you DID NOT receive a communication, please let us know! Schoolyard Painting Project - REMINDER! Attached to the weekly again today you will find a template for submitting ideas for the school yard. If your child is interested in participating in the “paint your ideal school yard project”, please submit proposals by September 23, 2024. It is important to note that we will begin painting the school yard and will take ideas from submissions (as long as they are logistically feasible.) We look forward to seeing your ideas! Thanks to our Mens’ Club for sponsoring this initiative! Family Mass Reminders: We will begin our Family Mass class assignments on October 6, 2024. It is very important for our classes to attend the 10AM Family Mass on days that your class is assigned. We know and understand that everyone’s schedule on the weekend varies but please mark your calendars and try to support your child’s class at the particular family Mass that is assigned. A HUGE part of our success at Annunciation is our deep rooted faith & by gathering together at Mass on Sundays, our strength and success as a community just grows! On October 6, 2024 - We will invite our students in Grade 8 & Grade 1 to participate in the family Mass. Recess Material Reminders: Just a reminder that footballs can be utilized for recess but they should be “soft” such as nerf. Manhattan Avenue Parking Reminders: Just a friendly reminder that there is NO PARKING or driving on Manhattan Avenue during school drop off/pick up or within school hours. We have restricted this street via the city of Yonkers to be a “School Zone” to ensure the safety of our walkers. Please arrange drop off and pick up accordingly. School Photo Reminders: Please note that students will be required to wear WINTER uniforms for school pictures scheduled for September 27, 2024 and October 3, 2024. Back to School Night—September 23, 2024, 6P-8P: We look forward to welcoming you to our Lower School Back to School Night. We truly hope that you can make it! Our teachers are eagerly anticipating your attendance and look forward to sharing all of the important information regarding their classrooms. We have invited all of our Upper School students to participate in the travel and distribution of the items we collect. A parent is required to attend with their son or daughter. We are also asking the entire school community to join us in supporting the event with donations of clothes and personal care items. Below is a list of the items needed. We include a grade number to assist parents and what to donate. You may donate whatever you wish, but use these as suggestions. Sweatpants (L/XL) - Grade 8 Hooded Sweatshirts (L/XL) - Grade 7 Thermal Underwear (L/XL) - Grade 6 Jeans (All Adult sizes) - Grade 5 Boots & Sneakers (Adult Sizes 9+) - Grade 4 Winter Socks - Grade 3 Boxer shorts (L/XL) - Grade 2 Undershirts (L/XL) - Grade 1 Toiletries (e.g. toothbrush, paste, etc. NO RAZORS please) - PK & K Uniform Request: We ask parents and students to put their names on their uniform items. Please consider donating to this worthy cause! Participation in Spiritwear for a Cause Days is voluntary. October 4th: Our amazing Fall Festival is back on Friday, October 4th from 6 pm to 8 pm. Featuring music, food trucks (for purchase), entertainment, photos and the Pumpkin Blaze!! Registration and raffle ticket order form is attached to the Weekly. The Pumpkin Blaze has become an amazing tradition at AES for all of our families to experience. What makes the Pumpkin Blaze so special is the amount of submissions we receive.
